RALEIGH, N.C. – Belmont Women's Track sophomore Lily Hallum (Mason, Ohio) posted a top-60 finish in a deep 1500m field at the Raleigh Relays on Friday.
Hallum placed 57th out of 97 with a time of 4:37.98 in the event.
"She really started out well and finished well," said Assistant Coach Kate Bucknam. "This was a great experience and learning opportunity for future meets."
She may be new to collegiate track and field, but Hallum is an experienced and naturally talented distance runner. "This was her first college meet. The first of many 1500m for her," said Bucknam. The sophomore challenged runners from universities including North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Villanova during the race in muggy conditions. "But it's still March and she has a lot chances to improve," said Bucknam.
Hallum will be back in action at the Raleigh Relays competing Saturday in the 800m, most of her teammates will be competing at the Margaret Simmons Invitational, hosted by Murray State tomorrow.
