Joe Walker Invitational Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont Women's Track and Field team is taking a trip to Mississippi to vie in the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss, this weekend.

The Bruins will be bringing a relatively small group of athletes to Oxford. "Now that we have the competition nerves out of our system, our girls are a little more comfortable getting into the blocks, and they are more comfortable throwing in the ring," said Belmont's Director of Track and Field Jeff Langdon. "I think we have prepared ourselves for the best chance to see some strong performances from all our athletes this weekend."

The Bruins will compete against student athletes from host-Ole Miss, Auburn, Bradley, Furman, Georgetown, Illinois State, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi Valley State, New Orleans, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, South Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin, Toledo, Tulsa, and OVC foe Eastern Kentucky.

This meet will feature strong competition, which the coaching staff hopes will help encourage the Bruins to rise to the occasion.

"We are looking for fast times, big jumps and far throws. This is a high performance meet. Our coaching staff is really excited to see our athletes in this mind set. Hopefully, we can bump up our personal bests due to the high competition in this meet," said Langdon.

Live results will be available for the Joe Walker Invitational.
