EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Fresh off a sweep of Purdue, the Belmont University baseball team finishes their nine-game road stretch with a midweek trip to Evansville on Tuesday.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

While there will not be a video stream, live audio play-by-play will be broadcast on the Bruin Sports Network, and live stats can be found on BelmontBruins.com. In-game updates will be posted to Twitter by @BelmontBaseball.

What's Bruin

  • Belmont is coming off a three-game sweep of Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind., this past weekend. The Bruins won 3-2 on Friday, 11-1 on Saturday, and 8-6 on Sunday.

  • The weekend marked the first time Belmont has swept a Power Five opponent on the road in program history, and just the second time they have swept a Power Five opponent ever (Iowa, 2000)

  • Joshua South earned OVC Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing seven strong innings with just one run and four hits allowed against Purdue on Saturday in a series-clinching 11-1 win

  • On Friday, Tommy Crider homered twice against the Boilermakers, giving him five home runs in five games at the time. It was the third multi-homer game of the season for Crider, who leads the team with ten long balls on the season.

  • Tuesday's projected starter on the mound will be RHP Jordan Zuger (1-1, 3.68 ERA). The freshman right-hander from Hendersonville, Tenn., is coming off his best career start, dealing five shutout innings against Middle Tennessee last Tuesday while only allowing three hits

  • Sophomore outfielder Guy Lipscomb leads the team in batting average (.392), on-base percentage (.480), and triples (3)

  • Lipscomb is currently 2nd in the country in stolen bases (30) and is tied with Matt Reynolds for the most stolen bases in a single season in program history (2005)

  • Lipscomb went 4-for-5 with three RBIs on Saturday against Purdue, collecting his third four-hit game of the season

  • Sophomore first baseman Brodey Heaton, who hit his eighth home run of the season on Saturday, is from Newburgh, Indiana, a short drive from the Evansville campus. Heaton leads the Bruins with 35 RBIs

  • Junior outfielder John Behrends has been on a tear over the last month, collecting nine multi-hit games with seven doubles, three home runs, and 19 RBIs since March 25. Behrends is currently hitting .315 and is slugging .479 with 15 stolen bases

  • Belmont pitching coach A.J. Gaura spent three seasons as the Evansville pitching coach (2019-2021) prior to coming to Nashville this past January

  • Graduate third baseman Logan Jarvis hit his second home run of the season on Sunday in an 8-6 win over Purdue, a two-run shot in the third inning that proved to be the difference in the game

  • Graduate closer Kyle Brennan picked up two saves over the weekend, getting his twelfth of the season on Friday and his thirteenth on Sunday

  • Brennan owns 29 career saves, the most in program history, and is two shy of tying Jon Ivie for the most in a single season in program history (15, 2011)

  • Head coach Dave Jarvis currently has 699 wins at Belmont, one shy of hitting 700. Jarvis became the all-time winningest coach in program history last season, and recorded his 1,000th career win earlier this year with an 11-1 victory over Middle Tennessee on Feb. 23

About the Purple Aces

  • At 6-3, Evansville is currently tied for first in the Missouri Valley Conference with Southern Illinois and Indiana State

  • The Purple Aces have won 12 of their last 15 games

  • With Belmont's move to the MVC starting next year, Evansville and Belmont will be conference rivals beginning in 2023

  • Tanner Craig is the all-time school record holder for career home runs, and has hit 13 this season

  • Evansville has turned 37 double plays this year, the 9th most in NCAA Division I

Series History

  • Belmont leads the all-time series, 13-3

  • Tommy Crider had his first career two-homer game in Belmont's 7-4 win over Evansville on March 9 this season

  • In that game, Jordan Zuger started on the mound and threw two scoreless innings, and Logan Jarvis and John Behrends each recorded two hits

  • Before this season, their last meeting ended on a Bruin walk-off sacrifice fly from Drew Lowry in the eleventh inning at E.S. Rose Park in 2020

  • The Bruins and Aces first met in 2010, with Belmont pulling off a three-game sweep on Opening Weekend

  • With the exception of 2021, the two programs have met at least once every year since 2012
