JACKSON, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in fifth place after day one of the Grover Page Classic held Monday at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee.
On a hot and humid day that felt like July rather than September, the Bruins played two steady rounds of golf. BU posted a one-under par 287 in the first round, and then shot a four-under par 284 in the second, to finish the day in fifth place at 571. They are nine shots back of the tournament leader, North Alabama, who is at 562. Tennessee Tech is in second at 567. Host UT-Martin is third at 569, while Bellarmine is fourth at 570.
Two Belmont golfers are among the top-20 after 36 holes. Junior
Reeve Felner carded rounds of 70 and 72 to finish the day in a tie for 10
th place at 142. He is six strokes back of the individual leader, Jackson Skeen of Tennessee Tech (136). The Vienna, Virginia native posted eight birdies and six bogeys in his two rounds on Monday.
Sophomore Michael Senn is one shot back of Felner and in a tie for 20
th place at 143. The Arkansas native shot rounds of 74 and 69 on Monday.
Junior
Patrick Brooks posted rounds of 69 and 75 on day one to finish 36 holes in a tie for 27
th at 144.
Freshman
Jack Schoenberger is tied for 38
th place at 146, while graduate student
Joe Bultman stands tied for 44
th at 147.
Freshman
Conner Brown, competing as an individual in his first collegiate event, is also tied for 44
th at 147.
