MADISON, Ill. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for third place after day one of the SIUE Dolenc Invitational held Monday at Gateway National Golf Course in Madison, Illinois.
Belmont shot rounds of 297 and 276 on Monday to finish the day tied for third with Green Bay at 555. UT-Martin has the team lead at 546, with Idaho in second at 548.
Leading the way for the Bruins is freshman
Jack Doyle. The Brentwood, Tennessee native carded rounds of 68 and 69 to finish the day in a tie for ninth place at 137. He is six strokes back of the individual leader, Mason Haupt of Green Bay (131).
Senior
Conner Brown and junior
Chris Harpum are each tied for 22
nd place at 140. Brown posted rounds of 73 and 67, while Harpum shot rounds of 71 and 69.
Harpum had the highlight of the day as he aced the par-3 4
th hole during round one.
Freshman
Charlie Spiller is tied for 31
st place at 141, while junior
Grey Goff is in a tie for 35
th place at 142.
