MUNCIE, Ind. – The Belmont men's golf team is in fifth place after day one of the Yestingsmeier Invitational held Saturday at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.
Belmont carded rounds of 279 and 275 on Saturday to finish the day in fifth place at 574. Host Ball State has the lead at 536, with Butler in second at 547.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after 36 holes. Senior
Conner Brown leads BU as he is tied for fourth place at 132. He is three strokes back of the individual leader, Luke Johnston of Ball State (129).
Brown carded a 64 in the first round, which is tied for the third lowest 18-hole score in the Division I era. His 36-hole score of 132 is tied for the fifth lowest in program history.
Junior
Chris Harpum is tied for 18
th place at 139. He shot rounds of 68 and 71 on Saturday.
Other Belmont scores from day one included: freshman
Charlie Spiller (T-27, 140), sophomore
Brennan Cozad (T-46, 144), and freshman
Jack Doyle (T-46, 144).
Junior
Grey Goff, competing as an individual, is tied for 63
rd place at 146.
