SAPPHIRE VALLEY, N.C. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in ninth place after 36 holes of the JT Poston Intercollegiate held this week at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Sapphire Valley, North Carolina.
Belmont carded rounds of 296 and 291 to finish day one in ninth place with a 36-hole score of 587. Costal Carolina has the team lead at 564, with UNC-Wilmington in second at 569, and Elon in third place at 572.
The Bruins are led by freshman
Jack Schoenberger. The Milton, Georgia native posted identical rounds of even par 71 to finish the day in a tie for ninth place at 142. He is five shots back of the individual leader, Jordan Jung of Georgia State (137).Â
Sophomore Michael Senn is the only other BU golfer among the top-50 as he is tied for 41
st place at 148 after carding rounds of 76 and 72.
Other Belmont scores from day one include: freshman
Conner Brown (T-53, 150), graduate student
Joe Bultman (T-71, 152), and junior
Reeve Felner (T-82, 153).
