Casey Alexander Named Finalist for Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award

Men's Basketball Head Coach Earns Nod for Third Time in Six Years

2022-23 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award Finalists

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach Casey Alexander has been named finalist for the 2023 Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, CollegeInsider.com announced Monday.

Alexander led Belmont to 21 victories and a third-place finish in the Bruins' inaugural season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Belmont's 98 victories since Alexander's arrival - prior to the 2019-20 season - ranks seventh nationally over that span.

The 1995 Belmont graduate was a candidate for the 2020 Naismith Men's Coach of the Year and was a Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year Award finalist.

The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off the floor as well.

Other notable finalists include Matt Painter (Purdue), Jon Scheyer (Duke) and Mike Boynton (Oklahoma State).

Alexander received the award in 2018 and was a finalist in 2021.

The recipient of the 2023 award will be announced later this month in Houston, site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.

Belmont University men's basketball has earned postseason invitations 15 of the last 17 seasons, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (Gonzaga, Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 13 consecutive seasons (Gonzaga, Kansas). Belmont is one of only five NCAA Division I programs outside the Power 5 to post Top 100 rankings 12 consecutive seasons (Gonzaga, Saint Mary's (CA), San Diego State, Wichita State). Belmont University men's basketball boasts an NCAA-leading 19 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections since 2001 and is the only NCAA Division I program to make the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Honor Roll every year of existence
