OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Posting their lowest 36-hole team score since September, the Belmont men's golf team is tied for third place after 36 holes of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate held this week at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
Belmont carded rounds of 286 and 281 to finish the day tied for third with Evansville at 567. They are two shots back of the tournament leader UT-Martin (565) and one shot back of second place Longwood (566). The team's 281 in the second round was the lowest 18-hole score by the Bruins this season.
Two Bruins are among the top-12 after two rounds of play. Freshman
Jack Schoenberger is alone in second place after shooting a 137 on Monday. He is just one shot back of the individual leader, Renato Filho of Lindenwood (136). The Georgia native posted rounds of 70 and 67 on Monday.
Junior
Reeve Felner is tied for 12
th place at 141, his lowest 36-hole score of the season. The Vienna, Virginia product shot rounds of 72 and 69 during Monday's play.
Sophomore Michael Senn is four strokes back of Felner and in a tie for 31
st place at 145. He posted rounds of 71 and 74 on Monday.
Freshman
Conner Brown is tied for 47
th place at 147, while graduate student
Winston Margaritis is tied for 63
rd at 149.
Four Bruins are competing as individuals this week. Junior
Patrick Brooks is tied for 41
st place at 146, while senior
Coleman Jones is currently tied for 63
rd at 149. Senior
Alex Whitehead posted a 153 on Monday to finish the day in 75
th place, while senior
Jack Bergstrom is tied for 76
th at 154.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning with an 8:00am shotgun start.
