Volleyball Releases 2023 Schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University head volleyball coach Katelyn Harrison released the program's 2023 schedule Thursday.
 
The schedule features six matches against RPI Top 100 competition as the Bruins enter season two in the tradition-rich and highly-competitive Missouri Valley Conference.
 
"We are looking forward to the 2023 season," Harrison said. "Our team saw a ton of growth this spring in our younger players, and we welcome an experienced, dynamic setter in Kam Olson. With the addition of our incoming class, we believe our depth is the strongest it has been during my time at Belmont. This schedule gives us a great blend of high-level competition and road trips to help prepare our players be at their best in the Missouri Valley Conference."
 
Belmont opens the campaign Aug. 25-26 in a tournament hosted by Youngstown State. The Penguins and Bruins will be joined by Saint Francis (PA) and Canisius.
 
From there, Belmont travels to perennial national power WKU for its first midweek matchup of the season. The Hilltoppers went 28-3 last season and were undefeated in Conference USA en route to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.
 
Labor Day Weekend takes Belmont to East Lansing, Michigan to participate in the Kathy DeBoer Invitational hosted by Michigan State. ACC stalwart Syracuse and defending MEAC champion Delaware State round out the field.
 
The Bruins then head to the Palmetto State for the Wofford Invitational. The host Terriers also welcome Presbyterian and Belmont's second look at Saint Francis (PA).
 
The long-awaited home opener comes Sept. 14 at the Curb Event Center as Belmont faces UC San Diego. The weekend slate also brings matches with Jackson State and former OVC rival Tennessee State.
 
A trip down Belmont Boulevard serves as a prelude to Missouri Valley Conference play, as the Bruins face Lipscomb Sept. 19.
 
League play begins in earnest Sept. 22 as Belmont hosts Indiana State. The Bruins swept the Sycamores in two meetings last season.
 
As fate would have it, Belmont's first five conference matches are at the Curb Event Center, the stretch culminating with a Sept. 30 matchup vs. Illinois State.
 
Other notable MVC matches include defending league champion Northern Iowa coming to Nashville Oct. 20 and Senior Day Nov. 4 vs. Missouri State.
 
The regular season slate concludes Nov. 15 at Murray State.
 
The 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Championship will be Nov. 22 at Missouri State.
