Nashville, Tenn. -- Finishing up its first meet of the 2024 season, the Belmont University men's track and field team competed at Vanderbilt University on Saturday. The Bruins completed across eight events in a day full of action.Â
In the one-mile run, Carter Cheeseman headlined as he topped the previous school record with an impressive time of 4:06.30.Â
Kevin Vanderkolk and Gavin Morrow also ran the mile. Vanderkolk earned ninth with a personal best time of 4:08.54, while Morrow finished in 4:23.07.
In the 60m preliminary round, Jayce Gray earned 10th in 6.97, while Tezz Dozier finished in 7.16 and Dailin Siggers clocked in at 7.27.
Austin Belle clocked in at 48.48 and secured the top spot in the 400m as Morgan Lewis secured seventh in the same event in 49.84.
In the 800m, Joel Wolf finished in a personal best 1:59.44, while Daniel Ahearn crossed the line in 1:59.99.Â
Zac Shaffer earned third in the 3000m with a personal best time of 8:22.68, with Nathan Katic finishing 8:46.70.
Belmont's 4x400m squad of Rodney Bryant, Eric Toviave, Austin Belle and Morgan Lewis earned sixth place at 3:20.46.
In the day's only field action for the Bruins, Jackson Grant earned fifth in shot put, throwing a personal best 16.13m, while Robert Joseph threw 14.15m.

The Bruins will return to action next weekend at Vanderbilt for the Vanderbilt University on Friday and Saturday Jan. 19 and 20.Â
