NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Â Belmont University Men's Track & Field will take part in the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend from Gibson Track & Field Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Â
The Bruins have had a strong season thus far, with many improving upon their personal best marks from the beginning of the year. At the Outdoor Music City Challenge on May 1-2, Belmont men posted seven new personal records and multiple top-10 finishes.
The weekend's competition opens with the 10,000m on Saturday morning. Throughout the afternoon, select Bruins will compete in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and steeplechase.
Head Coach
Jeff Langdon is excited to see how his distance team performs this weekend, saying they've been focusing on competing hard and responding to the challenges that come with racing longer distances. With four athletes in the steeplechase, Langdon hopes to score some valuable points in the event. He also points out the importance of this weekend for the seniors on the team, who will be racing for the last time as Bruins.
Pole vault and javelin throw athletes will also compete in their events on Saturday. Vaulter
Jack Perry stands a chance to qualify for NCAA Regionals if he PRs on Saturday. Assistant Coach
Knox Perry says, "Jack is really getting hot at the right time. He's showed consistency all outdoor season and it's just a matter of time before he jumps a big bar and winds up on the podium."
Bruins may have the chance to compete in the finals of the 400m and 400m hurdles on Sunday. Shot put and high jump athletes also compete on day two of the meet. Rounding out the weekend will be the 5,000m and 4x400m races.
Â
At last year's championships the Bruins brought home three medals, including a silver in the javelin throw earned by returning student-athlete
Sam Parker.
Complete meet schedule and live results are available through belmontbruins.com. The MVC Outdoor Championships will be broadcast on ESPN+. Inclement weather may affect the schedule of events throughout the weekend.
