NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Â Belmont University Men's Track & Field heads crosstown this weekend to compete in the Outdoor Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University.
Â
The meet serves as a precursor and final tune-up for the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships May 16-18 in Terre Haute, Ind.
"Vandy is our last meet of the regular season. Really a chance to fine tune things as we prepare for conference in a couple weeks. The team has been training well and improving from meet to meet this outdoor season so we hope to keep that trend going," says Coach
Cameron Harvey. "We have a few athletes that have been close to breakthroughs on the track, so I'm interested to see how
Jack Perry, Jennifer Mims and Aiyah Siggers do this weekend.
Matty Mackay has also been on a roll lately and I know he's looking to lower his school record time in the outdoor 3k this weekend."
Â
Two weekends ago, the Bruin men recorded six new personal records in split-meet competition. Distance runners
Matty Mackay,
Noah Epker, and
Drew Brill set record times in California at the Bryan Clay Invite.
Dailin Siggers,
Kiefer Jay, and Otto Richter also turned out elite performances at the Georgia Tech Invite.
This weekend, Bruin fans can expect a full spread of running and field events from late morning into the evening on both Friday and Saturday.
