ST. LOUIS – For the first time in her career, Belmont University women's basketball's
Tessa Miller has been selected as Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. Announced by the conference office midday Tuesday, Miller continued her outstanding season over the weekend as she led the Bruins to two home victories.

The junior forward averaged 19 points, five assists, three rebounds and a block across Belmont's two wins and was sensational from the floor. Miller shot 78.9 percent (15-of-19) from the field and knocked down eight free throws. In Friday night's 87-62 blowout of Indiana State, Miller posted 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting, distributed five assists, grabbed four boards and came up with a steal. On Sunday in the Bruins' 80-55 shellacking of Evansville, Miller scored a game-high 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting, dished out five assists and made a pair of blocks. Ten of Miller's 24 points versus the Purple Aces Sunday came in the fourth quarter.

A native of Crossville, Tennessee (Stone Memorial HS), Miller has reached double-figure scoring in 23 of 29 games this season and distributed at least three assists 18 times.

The conference weekly honor is Miller's second of her career, she was tabbed Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week on Dec. 21, 2021.

Belmont closes out the regular season on the road this week, traveling to Bradley Thursday and Illinois State Saturday. Tipoff Thursday evening against the Braves at Renaissance Coliseum in Peoria, Illinois, is set for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on
ESPN+.
