Baseball Hosts Missouri State in Final Home Series

Bruins Welcome Bears to Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont (22-26, 9-12 MVC) hosts Missouri State (8-13) in their final weekend at E.S. Rose Park this season. The highlight of the weekend is Senior Day on Sunday, May 12. Fans can stream all games on ESPN+, listen live on iHeartRadio or follow along with live stats.

GAME RECAP VS. AUSTIN PEAY (MAY 7)
  • Brodey Heaton went 3-for-6 with RBIs and became Belmont's all-time leader in career RBIS with 214. Heaton broke the previous mark held by Derek Wiley ('09) with 212 in the fourth inning on a three-run home run.
  • Michael Lareau and Pete Daniel hit back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth inning. Daniel finished the game with two hits and runs.
  • Jack Rando doubled twice and scored three times.
  • Sam Slaughter went 2-for-6 and stole two bases.
  • Max Jones delivered a pinch-hit double in the sixth inning that scored two runs.
  • Mason Landers drove in two runs on a double in the seventh.

WHAT'S BRUIN?
  • Brodey Heaton continues to elevate his name in the Belmont record book. He became Belmont's all-time leader in RBIs on Tuesday, May 7, hitting a three-run home run and bringing his career RBI total to 214. His 875 career at-bats are the third most all-time. Heaton's 39 career home runs are third all-time. His 262 career hits are tied with Matt Beaty ('15) for the fifth most all-time. He currently sits ninth all-time with 52 career doubles.
  • Heaton has a .421 batting average in the last 10 games. He currently holds a nine-game hit streak. The first baseman has 16 hits, 13 RBIs, two doubles and a .711 slugging percentage during that stretch.
  • Mason Landers and Jack Rando Two earned recognition from D1baseball in their Week 12 Position Rankings. Landers was ranked the 30th third basemen and Rando was ranked the 41st second basemen in the nation.
  • Landers's team-high 18 home runs are tied for the second-most in the MVC. Landers is three home runs away from surpassing Nate Wood's 20 home runs from the 2010 season for the most in a single season.
  • Landers and Heaton lead the Bruins with 54 RBIs and are tied for the fourth-most in the MVC. They've tied Tim Egerton's season total from 2011 for the tenth-most RBIs in a single season since Belmont joined the NCAA.
  • Landers also leads the team in batting average (.346), hits (66) and slugging percentage (.686). Landers ranks ninth in the MVC in batting average, sixth in hits and fourth in slugging percentage.
  • Sam Slaughter leads the team with 17 stolen bases and is tied for the second-most in the MVC. He leads the conference in stolen base attempts with 23.
  • Five Belmont starters are hitting above .300 on the season: Mason Landers (.346), Brodey Heaton (.328), Sam Slaughter (.326), Blake Barton (.319) and Jack Rando (.314)
  • Heaton and Slaughter carry a 17-game on-base streak into the weekend. Both rank in the 14th and 15th respectively in batting average in the MVC.
  • Rando leads the Bruins with a .375 batting average at E.S. Rose Park. His 21 RBIs are the second-most by a Bruin at home this season. Heaton leads the team with 26 RBIs.

  • Jordan Zuger's 24 relief appearances lead the MVC.
  • Belmont's .979 fielding percentage is tied for the best in the MVC and 20th in NCAA Division I. The Bruins have turned a conference-high 39 double plays and ranks 43rd in NCAA Division I.
MVC OUTLOOK
  • Belmont enters the weekend tied with Southern Illinois for sixth.
  • The Bruins were in a four-way tie for fourth in the MVC standings ahead of last weekend's series against Indiana State.
  • Missouri State sits alone at eighth and two games ahead of Valparaiso.
  • Belmont sits two games behind Murray State (11-10) for fourth and three games behind Illinois State for fourth.
SCOUTING REPORT: MISSOURI STATE BEARS
  • Missouri State leads the MVC with 94 home runs. The Bears have homered in 40 of 48 games this season. Zack Stewart leads the conference with 19 home runs and has earned MVC Player of the Week honors twice.
  • Missouri State is 8-13 in the MVC. The Bears went 1-2 against Murray State last weekend. The last series Missouri State won was April 19-21 against Valparaiso.
  • Brandt Thompson owns a 3.14 ERA and a .206 opponent average in MVC play.
  • Caden Bogenpohl ranks 4th nationally among freshmen with 16 home runs and 41 walks.
