Six Bruins Named to the 2025 MVC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team

The MVC Honors Six Bruins for Their Academic and Athletic Accomplishments

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its 2025 Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team on Thursday, recognizing six members of Belmont University's men's and women's cross country programs for their academic and athletic achievements.

On the men's side, graduate student Andrew Hammel, senior Noah Epker, and junior Reuben Macdonald earned spots on the Scholar-Athlete Team. On the women's side, juniors Clara Crain and Carson Wasemiller, and sophomore Lilie Fouts were also named to the academic team.

In order to be eligible for the MVC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must meet both performance and academic standards. Honorees must compete in at least two regular season meets, or finish among the top 20 runners at the conference championship race, hold at least a cumulative 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically at their school.

Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes

Andrew Hammel finished 5th at the MVC Championship with a time of 24:37.45. Hammel holds a 3.65 cumulative GPA while pursuing his master's in Strategic Communications & Leadership.

Noah Epker finished in 5th place at the Belmont Opener, and placed 32nd at the MVC Championships. He holds a 3.71 GPA in Biblical Studies.

Reuben Macdonald earned a personal best in the 8K at Alabama's Crimson Classic with a time of 25:42.0 and holds a nearly perfect 3.98 GPA in Mathematics.

Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes

Clara Crain placed 6th at the Belmont Opener, and came in 36th at the MVC Championships with a 6K time of 22:15.7. She holds a 3.82 GPA in Exercise Science.

Carson Wasemiller earned a personal best of 18:35.5 in the 5K at the Southern Showcase. Also majoring in Exercise Science, she holds an unblemished 4.00 GPA.

Lilie Fouts holds a 3.85 in Songwriting. She placed 35th at the MVC Championships, and holds a personal best of 22:08.4 in the 6K.

The Bruins will next compete at the NCAA South Regional Championships on Nov. 14 in Huntsville, Ala.
