NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's cross country will compete in the NCAA South Regional meet held the morning of Nov. 14 at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park in Huntsville, Ala.
The Bruins enter this week's race after placing 8th at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Oct. 31 in Evansville, Ind.
Sophie Nicholls led the way for the Bruins with a time of 21:56.84.
Lilie Fouts and
Clara Crain crossed the finish line together, with times of 22:15.56 and 22:15.61.
Carson Wasemiller and
Callie Kent rounded out the Belmont women's finishers in Evansville.
Earlier in the season, the Bruins finished second at the Belmont Opener led by
Sophie Nicholls, who placed first with a time of 17:52.5.
Belmont finished 24th of 52 at the Southern Showcase, and 16th out of 26 at the Gans Creek Classic.
The top-two teams at this regional and the top-four runners who are not members of the top-two teams will automatically advance to the NCAA Championship.
Last season, the Bruins placed 14th overall, with three runners in the top 75.
Brooke Garter led Belmont in 28th place.
This year's women's NCAA South Regional, hosted by North Alabama will feature 36 teams.
The women's 6K begins at 8:30 a.m. CT with the men's 10K to follow at 9:30 a.m. CT.
