NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a pair of double-doubles last week in Missouri Valley Conference road action, Belmont University's
Kendal Cheesman has been named Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The senior forward was sensational in both of the Bruins' games at Illinois State and Murray State as she extended her double-double streak to three consecutive outings.

Last Thursday night in Normal, Illinois, against the Redbirds, Cheesman secured a career-high 16 rebounds and added 17 points. On Sunday afternoon in Murray, Kentucky, Cheesman scored 25 points versus the rival Racers on 9-for-15 shooting and grabbed 10 boards. She went 5-for-5 from behind the arc in the first half at Murray State and also made a pair of blocks.

For the two games, the Tampa, Florida (H.B. Plant HS), native averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from distance.

Cheesman has scored in double figures for nine-straight games, averaging 19.2 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 57.6 percent (68-of-118) from the field. She is one of only four players in the nation averaging over 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting over 40 percent from three-point range.

Cheesman's state player of the week honor is Belmont's first of the season.

The Bruins return to game action Thursday night when Belmont hosts Southern Illinois at the Curb Event Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the MVC home matchup will be broadcast on
ESPN+.
This Saturday, Cheesman will be one of five Bruins recognized for senior day as Belmont welcomes MVC leader Missouri State to the Music City.
