WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - - Belmont University men's golf completed one of its finest showings at a conference championship in program history Tuesday, contending for both the team and individual crowns at the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship from Des Moines Country Club.

Belmont finished third (+2, 866) behind team champion Illinois State and runner-up Murray State, with two Bruins placing in the top six.

The Bruins closed in style, as their final round team total of three under par 285 tied Illinois State for top billing.

Belmont's closing 36-hole team total of four under par 572 ranks among the best stretches of golf in Bruin history.

Foster Wood finished second on the individual leaderboard, backing up his matching rounds of three under par 69 from Monday with a strong final round of two under par 70.

Wood's 54-hole total of eight under par 208 ties the lowest score ever by a Belmont men's golfer at a conference championship and is the best individual finish since Jack Uselton finished runner-up at the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship.

Wood entered the final round one shot behind Trey Wall of Murray State. Wood birdied two of the first three holes to take an early lead.

The pair held off a charge from TJ Barger of Illinois State, essentially making it match play over the final stretch of holes.

Wood trailed by one shot heading to the par-5 18
th hole, with Wall making birdie to secure a two-shot victory.

Wood's strong showing was matched throughout the Belmont lineup.

Chris Harpum backed up his second round 68 with a final round one under par 71 to place T-6.

Conner Brown carded five birdies on Tuesday to close in even par 72 and place 21
st.
Grant Clark had four birdies to finish in even par 72 to place T-35.
