Softball Welcomes Faith Canfield

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University softball head coach Laura Matthews announced Wednesday the addition of Faith Canfield as an assistant coach on the Bruin coaching staff.
 
Canfield brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Nashville, standing as one of the most decorated infielders in recent Big Ten Conference history.
 
The Garden Grove, California native spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach and lead hitting instructor at her alma mater, the University of Michigan.
 
Canfield played an integral role in the Wolverines claiming consecutive Big Ten Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2024 and 2025.
 
In 2025, she coached two All-Americans, four NFCA All-Region players, and four all-conference performers, including unanimous All-Big Ten selection Jenissa Conway.
 
Michigan amassed 184 victories during Canfield's five seasons as an assistant coach.
 
Canfield returned to Michigan after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Northwestern, where she earned her master's degree in sport administration. In 2021 with Canfield on staff Northwestern won 41 games and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
 
A heralded second baseman, Canfield was a four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain at Michigan. She twice earned NFCA All-America honors and was named NFCA All-Great Lakes Region three times.
 
Canfield posted a .379 career batting average – including hitting .404 as a senior.
 
Michigan won 184 games during Canfield's playing career, which included three Big Ten regular season titles and a trip to the NCAA Women's College World Series in 2016.
