NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont University Women's Track & Field team heads over to Vanderbilt University to compete against 50 team in the Indoor Music City Challenge this weekend.
The Bruins are coming off an appearance in Louisville, Ky. at the competitive PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
Alexa Fortman and
Sophie Nicholls ended the weekend with a pair of top-5 placements; Fortman in the 800m and Nicholls in the 3000m.
The Bruins also earned several personal bests over the weekend. On Friday,
Jennifer Mims ran a record time in the 400m, and Carlota Salgado García threw a new best in the pentathalon shot put. On Saturday, freshmanÂ
Alex Lancaster earned a PR in the mile.
The competition kicks off on Feb. 13 with the high jump at 9:00Â a.m. followed by a series of field events.Â
Track events start at 3:30 p.m. with the 60m hurdles and wrap up with the 5000m.
Saturday's track events start with the 3000m at 9:30Â a.m., and conclude with the 4x400 meter relay at 4:40 p.m.
