NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont baseball returns to Nashville Wednesday for a midweek matchup against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers baseball at First Horizon Park. First pitch is scheduled for the evening as the Bruins look to continue building momentum during the early portion of the season.
Belmont enters the contest following a competitive weekend on the road against UAB and will look to carry its offensive production into Wednesday's matchup. The Bruins have shown the ability to generate runs in a variety of ways, combining timely hitting with aggressive base running and consistent pressure throughout the lineup.
One of the key contributors for Belmont has been outfielder Brady Holbrook, who was recently named Freshman of the Week by the Missouri Valley Conference. Holbrook has provided a spark in the Bruins' lineup, delivering consistent production at the plate while driving in runs in key situations. His ability to impact the game offensively has made him a player to watch heading into the midweek contest.
On the mound, Belmont is set to turn to right-hander Sam Heyman, who has been named the starting pitcher for Wednesday's game. Heyman will look to set the tone early against a Western Kentucky lineup that has proven capable of producing runs and applying pressure offensively.
For the Bruins, the focus will be on executing in all phases of the game limiting mistakes on the mound, continuing to produce offensively, and playing clean defense. With strong individual performances emerging and momentum building, Belmont will look to put together a complete effort in their home city.
