NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Bruins will open the 2026 outdoor season this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. At the meet, hosted by Georgia Tech, they'll have the chance to compete against top Southeast Regional talent, including Auburn, Georgia, and Missouri.
Belmont wrapped up the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships finishing in eighth place overall, with several top-8 finishes.
Coach
Cameron Harvey discusses who and what to look out for this weekend, saying, "this is a season opener for us so a lot of the women are just going to do one event. I would say keep an eye out for the women's hurdles, like
Jennifer Mims in the 400m hurdles and
Aiyah Siggers in the 100m hurdles. Both of those are big step-ups from the indoor season. They don't run 400m hurdles in indoor so this will be Jennifer's first race in the event since outdoor conference. We're looking forward to some things in the field events too, like Bella Piette will be throwing in the hammer."
Events will take place at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility, with competition kicking off at 10:30 a.m. CST on Friday, March 20 with the hammer throw. Running events kick off at 5 p.m. with the women's 100m hurdles.
Friday competition finishes with two sections of the 5000m at 7:30 p.m. CST.
On Saturday, the women begin the high jump, pole vault, and discus competitions at 11 a.m. Day two running events commence shortly after at noon, starting with the 4x100m relay.
The Yellow Jacket Invite concludes at 2:30 p.m. with the women's and men's 4x400m relay.
Live results will be available online via PrimeTime Timing. The meet will not be streamed.
