NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Â The Belmont women's distance runners head to Raleigh, N.C. this week to compete at NC State's highly anticipated Raleigh Relays.
After opening the outdoor season at Georgia Tech last weekend, the Bruins are eager for a shot to compete on a larger stage.
"Raleigh is a big meet for our team each year. Great atmosphere, racing environment, and competition!"Â says Women's Distance Coach
Hannah Brookover.Â
After training indoors all winter and putting in steady hours, the team is excited to get back outside.
"I know the women are excited to finally race a 5K outdoor. They are fit and healthy and have put in a lot of consistent work," says Brookover. "Alexa will be racing the 800m on Saturday. She has been looking great in training and is coming off a solid 1500m at Georgia Tech last weekend. She's looking super strong right now and has put in a lot of hard work. It's going to be an awesome week."
Events will take place at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility. The Bruin women's first race will take to the starting line shortly after 5 p.m. CST on Friday, March 27. Freshman
Sophie Nicholls, sophomore
Lilie Fouts, and junior
Clara Crain will all run the 5000m on Friday evening.
At 11 a.m. the following morning,
Alexa Fortman is set to compete in the 800m, which will conclude the weekend for the Bruins.
Live results will be provided by Flash Results. The meet will be streamed on ACC Network Extra, available through the ESPN app, ESPN.com, or a TV provider.
