ATLANTA, Ga. - Belmont University Track & Field delivered a series of strong performances this weekend in the Georgia Tech Invitational at George C. Griffin Track. Bruins beat the 85-degree heat to establish new personal records and build experience as conference championships approach.
Â
All three Belmont participants in the javelin throw placed in the top 10 on Friday.
Maggie Swarr placed 4th;
Kate Briscoe and
Sam Parker placed 9th.
In the 1500m, two Bruins set personal records.
Callie Kent ran away with a time of 4:38.05, and
Kiefer Jay hit 3:59.43. Otto Richter placed 6th in the steeplechase, also with a new personal best time of 9:32.94.
Sophie Nicholls and
Lilie Fouts dominated in the women's 5000m, taking 1st and 2nd respectively.
Dailin Siggers performed well on Saturday in the 400m hurdles, setting a new best of 56.48. Shortly afterwards,
Callie Kent hit a record mark again in the 800m with a time of 2:18.46.
Andrew Taylor also placed 6th in the high jump on Saturday afternoon.
"Overall, this was a solid meet for the team," says Graduate Assistant Coach Jalen Tate. "We had some really good efforts and performances, but we can't be satisfied. We're trending upwards and so [we]Â have to be a little bit more intentional with the small details so we can go into conference and shock some people."
