Box Score COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball (36-17, 21-7) fell to Tennessee Tech, 14-6 in game two of the series Friday night at Quillen Field.
Tennessee Tech got things started early as they took a 4-0 lead in the first following a grand slam from Daniel Miles.
The Bruins responded in the second as Jamie Ritchie (Buford, Ga.) hit a three-run homer to make it a one-run game. The Golden Eagles extended their lead to 5-3 after Michael Morris scored on an error.
A leadoff single from TTU in the third sparked a six-run inning, as the Golden Eagles took an 11-3 lead. Tennessee Tech added two in the fourth as they extended their lead, 13-3.
Spencer Petett (Tompkinsville, Ky.) singled through the left side in the sixth to score Judah Akers (Cookevillle, Tenn.) to make it 13-4.
In the seventh, the Bruins continued to overcome the deficit as they added two runs in the seventh. Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) led off the inning with a double to left center and advanced to third after Jared Breen (Marietta, Ga.) flew out to center. Josh Davis (Fayetteville, Ga.) doubled to the right field corner to score Ferguson. An RBI single from Alec Diamond (Kennesaw, Ga.) brought home Davis and cut TTU's lead to seven.
The Golden Eagles plated one in the bottom of the seventh to take a 14-6 lead.
Belmont and Tennessee Tech will conclude the series tomorrow at 12:00p.m.
