NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont Baseball (1-1) fell to Bowling Green, 8-3 in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
Bowling Green struck first in the fourth and added two more runs in the top of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.
The Bruins got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Tyler Walsh (Evansville, Ind.) scored after Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Walsh's double to right field in the bottom of the sixth tied the game, 3-3, scoring Spencer Petett (Tompkinsville, Ky.) and Matthew Kinney (Alpharetta, Ga.).
T.J. Losby's RBI single put Bowling Green ahead 4-3 in the seventh. The Falcons scored three runs in the eighth and added one more in the ninth.
Chase Cunningham (Bluff City, Tenn.) earned his first start with the Bruins and went 4.1 innings. Dan Ludwig (Naperville, Ill.) suffered the loss after coming in for three innings of relief, giving up three earned runs.
Belmont will conclude the series with Bowling Green tomorrow at 1:00pm.
