MOREHEAD, Ky. – Belmont Baseball fell to Morehead State, 12-2 Friday afternoon at Allen Field.
Morehead State struck first in the fourth off a Brandon Rawe home run. The Eagles went on to score two more runs in the inning to take a 3-0 lead. Behind a three-run homer from Rawe in the fifth, the Eagles extended their lead 7-0.
A two-out RBI single from Alec Diamond (Kennesaw, Ga.) put the Bruins on the board in the seventh. Matt Beaty (Dresden, Tenn.) kept the inning alive as he drew a walk to load the bases, but the runners were left stranded.
The Eagles scored five in the eighth to take a 12-1 lead.
Brennan Washington (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) came off the bench in the ninth to hit his first collegiate home run.
Scott Moses (Englewood, Tenn.) pitched a perfect inning of relief in the bottom of the seventh.
Belmont will continue the series with the Eagles tomorrow at 12:00pm.
