NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Behind a one-hit complete game from Austin Peay starter Alex Robles, the Governors shut out Belmont 3-0 Thursday night.
Behind a solo home run from Kevin Corey in the first, Austin Peay took a 1-0 lead.
Drake Byrd had the only Bruin hit of the day with a third inning single.
In the sixth, the Governors extended their lead to 3-0 behind a sacrifice fly from P.J. Torres and an RBI single from Ridge Smith.
Patrick McGrath went seven innings giving up nine hits and three runs while striking out four. The lefty did not allow a walk during his outing. Chase Cunnigham tossed two innings of relief and struck out two.
Belmont will continue the series with Austin Peay tomorrow at 4:00pm.
