DAYTON, Ohio – The Belmont men's tennis team halted their two match losing streak as they edged the Dayton Flyers 4-3 in a non-conference match played Sunday in Dayton, Ohio.
Belmont took the early 1-0 lead as they won two of the three doubles matches. At number two, sophomore Cedric Dujacquier and junior Robin Demasse beat Bernardo Sanson and Joah Maylon 6-4. Then at three, freshman Caio Niel and sophomore Geoff Tulloch defeated Kyle MacDonald and Aidan Koross 6-2. The match at number one was stopped once the doubles point had been determined.
In singles, the Bruins posted wins at positions one, two, and six to clinch the 4-3 road victory. At number one, senior Mauricio Antun beat Sanson 6-3, 6-3, while fellow senior Marko Lovrinovic defeated Koross 6-4, 7-6. Then, at the number six position, Bruno Russo defeated Andy Druffel in straight sets: 7-6, 6-2.
Belmont (5-3) is back in action this Friday as they host South Carolina in their home opener at 2:00pm at the Nashboro Village Club.
