Box Score MARTIN, Tenn.-- Bruins drop their first OVC match to the UT Martin Skyhawks on Friday.
The Bruins were held to five scoreless innings before tacking on a few runs in the top of the sixth.
Alec Diamond (Kennesaw, Ga.) went three-for-four at the plate and started off a short hitting streak with a 3-2 pitch single to left center. Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) followed suit with a single to left field. Tyler Fullerton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) steps up to the plate and hits his fourth homerun of the season over the left field fence plating three runs. The home run brought the game within one run.
The Skyhawk lead grew in the bottom of the 7th by three runs on four hits. The Bruins tried to fight back in the top of the ninth. Joe Stovall (Collierville, Tenn.) led off the inning by drawing a walk. Another Bruin reached on an error and was followed by a single up the right side for Diamond. Ferguson hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Stovall. Even with another run tacked on, the Bruins were retired and stranded three on base.
The Bruins return to Skyhawk Field tomorrow 3PM to take on the UT Martin Skyhawks in game two of the series.
