Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- In game two of the series, the Panthers extended their lead on the Bruins late in the game for the 8-2 win over the Bruins on Saturday.
Aaron Quillen (Kingsport, Tenn) had a strong outing on the mound after giving up four runs in the top of the first. Quillen pitched 7 innings and struck out 6 batters faced. He held the Panthers to six scoreless innings before Josh Tubbs (Camden, Tenn.) relieved Quillen on the mound.
The Panthers took a four run lead early in the top of the first that the Bruins couldn't quite recover from. The Bruins tacked on a run in the second and fourth both off of sacrifice flys in an effort to gain the lead.
In the second Tyler Walsh (Evansville, Ind.) started the hitting with a single to left field. Desi Ammons (Hohenwald, Tenn.) reached on a throwing error by the short stop placing runners on the corners. With Walsh in scoring position, Kyle Conger (Brentwood, Tenn.) stepped to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing Walsh to tag and beat the throw.
In the bottom of the fourth Tyler Fullerton (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) led off the inning with a walk. Walsh once again stepped to the plate and delivered with a single to right center to place runners on the corners. Ammons with no outs provided a sac fly to right field in foul territory to plate Fullerton.
Despite the two runs scored in the second and fourth, the Panthers plated another three runs in the top of the 9th in an effort to expand their lead.
The Bruins return to Rose Park tomorrow at 1 PM for the last game of the series. The Bruins drop to 20-17 overall and 9-7 in conference.
