Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Bruins bats were held at a standstill as Southeast Missouri's Joey Lucchesi and Brady Wright combined to shutout the Bruins 12-0.
The Bruins were held scoreless despite tacking six hits on the board. Joey Lucchesi received the start on the mound for the Redhawks and pitched eight innings on the mound for the Redhawks striking out seven of the 34 batters he faced.
Southeast Missouri posted three multiple run innings on the Bruins to extend their lead. They plated four runs in the second off of three hits. In the 7th, Ryan Rippee ripped a three run homer to left center. In the 8th inning, the Redhawks plated another four runs thanks to a grand slam by Hunter Leeper.
Dan Ludwig (Naperville, Ill.) recived the start on the mound for the Bruins and was tagged with the loss. In seven innings pitched he struck out three and gave up three earned runs on 10 hits.
The Bruins return to Rose Park tomorrow for the second game of the series. The Bruins still need a win to clinch a spot in the OVC Tournament.
