Box Score KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-- The Bruins produced nine hits against the Volunteers but are unable to overcome errors. The Bruins dropped the home and home series 7-2 on Wednesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Starting on the mound for the Bruins was Dom Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.). He pitched two innings for the Bruins. Also pitching for the Bruins were Christopher Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.), Alex Ward (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Connor Etheridge (Springfield, Tenn.), Chase Cunningham (Bluff City, Tenn.), Tyler Vaughn (Jonesboro, Tenn.) and Josh Tubbs (Camden, Tenn.).
Despite putting nine hits on the board, the Bruins were only able to plate two runs against the Volunteers. Three Bruins went 2 for 4 at the plate; Drew Fergsuon, Tyler Walsh (Evansville, Ind.), and Drake Byrd.
In the top of the fifth, the Bruins plated a run on back to back, two outs doubles by Drake Byrd (Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) and Brennan Washington (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). Another run was plated in the top of the sixth when Nick Egli (Brentwood, Tenn.) reached base on an RBI fielder's choice plating Drew Ferguson (Knoxville, Tenn.) who led off the inning with a double.
Tennessee capitalized on the Bruins errors for three two run innings. The Bruins record overall drops to 25-22. The Bruins stay on the road to travel on Friday to Tennessee Tech for a three game OVC series.
