NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team fell to Kennesaw State 5-2 in a non-conference match played Friday at the Nashboro Village Club in Nashville.
The visiting Owls took the first point of the match as they swept the first two matches. At one, KSU's Simon Pritchard and Manuel Castellanos beat junior Bruno Russo and sophomore Stephen Goldman 6-2. Then at two, Sam Slade and Jorge Wilton defeated freshman Zak Khan and Adam Rudowski 6-2. The match at number three was not finished since the double point was clinched.
In singles, the two teams split the first four matches. KSU won at positions two and four, while the Bruins posted wins at one and three. At number one, junior Cedric Dujacquier beat Simon Pritchard in a hard fought match, 6-4, 3-6, and 7-6. While at three, freshman Adam Rudowski swept Sam Slade 7-6, 6-4.
The final two matches went back and forth, but the Owls clinched the match victory when David Durham won at number five over Zak Khan in straight sets.
Belmont (3-1) will be back on the court next Saturday, February 6 at Chattanooga.
