KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In day 3 of the ITA Ohio Valley Men's Regional, the Bruins competed in one round of the singles draw, two rounds in the doubles draw, and two rounds in the consolation draw.
In any sort of tournament, there is bound to be an upset that takes place. Today that upset was the Euro Duo of Belmont, Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic, stunned the No. 4 nationally-ranked doubles pair in the country, Klinger/Rowe, to move on to the semi-finals for Sunday, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
Doubles
Round of 16
Inno/Ilic faced off against Rengifo/Khamis of ETSU, and though they barely escaped the previous round, they were able to win in dominating fashion, winning 8-2.
Quarterfinals
Inno/Ilic moved on to compete in a true test. The duo went on to face the No. 1 ranked doubles pair in the tournament/No. 4 doubles pair in the country, Klinger/Rowe of Vanderbilt. Though the Vandy duo was the favorite to win the tournament, that was not going to stop the Euro Duo of Belmont from grabbing one of the biggest wins in Belmont tennis history. While playing some of their best tennis as a duo, they defeated Klinger/Rowe 8-5.
Inno/Ilic will move on to the semi-finals to face Shabat/Dragos of Butler at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
