NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's tennis earned a 7-0 sweep over Dayton Saturday from Ensworth Tennis Center.
The Bruins quickly earned the doubles' points, as the pairings of senior Hendrik Inno (Someru, Estonia) and junior Marko Ilic (Zagreb, Croatia) and freshman Arthur Toledo (Greenacres, Florida) and junior Grant Kelly (Atlanta, Ga.) steamrolled to 6-1 wins.
Belmont carried momentum as Ilic and senior Felix Rauch (Osterode, Germany) continued their high-level play, making quick work of Dayton's formidable offerings at first and second singles.
Toledo and junior Jake Briggs (Marietta, Ga.) were also in top form in convincing, straight-set wins to secure the match win.
Juniors Taisei Miyamoto (Chiba, Japan) and David Faulkner (Birmingham, Ala.) capped off the sweep with inspired, come-from-behind victories.
In fact, Miyamoto staved off four match points in defeating Matt DeMarco, 12-10, in the super tiebreak.
Belmont (7-3) returns to action Sunday vs. Butler. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT from Centennial Sportsplex.
