GREENVILLE, S.C. - - Belmont University men's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision at Furman Saturday.
The Paladins took care of doubles quickly on court three with Cole Burnam and Elijah Poritzky taking the 6-1 win over Grant Kelly and Alfred Wallin.
After that, the number one pairing of Ivan Mitric and Jamie Connel stayed undefeated with their hard-fought 7-6 win over Tomas Luis and Diego Castro to seal point one for Furman.
In singles, the Bruins managed to pick up two victories on court one and court six. OVC preseason pick Arthur Toledo moved to 2-1 in the first spot with his two-set win over Mitric.
Later on, sophomore Alfred Wallin outlasted Drew Singerman to continue his momentum from the fall and early spring.
The second-year Swedish native has won his last seven singles matches in dual action.
Belmont (3-1) returns to competition Sunday at UNC Asheville. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. CT.
