NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Fresh off a series win over Toledo on Opening Weekend, the Belmont University baseball team will look to ride the momentum into a midweek clash with area foe Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday at E.S. Rose Park.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the game was pushed back to Wednesday due to inclement weather in the area.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. Noah Syverson will have the live play-by-play call on the Bruin Sports Network beginning at 3:50 p.m., live stats will be available through BelmontBruins.com, and in-game Twitter updates will be posted to @BelmontBaseball.

What's Bruin

  • After dropping the season opener, 3-2, to Toledo on Friday night, the Bruins have rattled off three straight wins, taking both games of Saturday's doubleheader, 7-2 and 5-0, before closing out the series with a 3-0 shutout on Sunday

  • On the weekend, Bruin pitchers allowed just five runs in 32 innings, including zero runs in the final 16 innings of the series. The back-to-back shutouts for the Bruins from Saturday to Sunday marked the first time since 2013 Belmont had shut out an opponent in back-to-back games.

  • Belmont's staff ERA is currently 1.41, tied for 16th nationally in NCAA Division I

  • Carson Shacklett and Jackson Campbell both roared to hot starts at the plate, beginning their seasons 7-for-8 before cooling a little bit in Sunday's game

  • Guy Lipscomb led off Friday's season-opener with a home run to right field, his first career home run

  • Lipscomb went 6-for-12 on the series with a home run, a triple, four walks, and six stolen bases.

  • Lipscomb's six stolen bags are currently tied for 2nd nationally in NCAA Division I. His three stolen bases in the second game of the Toledo series were the most by a Bruin since Tyler Walsh in 2017.

  • Kyle Brennan picked up his first save of the season on Sunday, moving him into a tie for 4th place with Will Tucker (2001-04) in the Belmont record books for career saves (18)

  • Logan Jarvis hit his first home run of the season on Sunday, blasting a ball 400 feet to left-center field to secure the 3-0 win over the Rockets

  • Freshman right-hander Jordan Zuger is the projected starter on the mound for Wednesday's game against MTSU

About the Blue Raiders

  • Fausto Lopez is out to a hot start, hitting .467 with two home runs and 6 RBIs over the opening four games

  • Jaden Hamm was excellent out of the bullpen, making two appearances without allowing a run, tossing 6 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and one walk

  • The Blue Raiders went 24-29-1 in 2021 and were picked to finish 10th in the 2022 Conference USA Preseason Poll
