Men's Track and Field Finishes Indoor Season at MVC Championships

Bruins Get a Taste of the Talented Teams in the Valley

Chicago, Ill. – The Belmont University men's track and field team wrapped its first Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship appearance on Monday.  

The Bruins finished in seventh place following the two-day meet held inside Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park in Chicago, Illinois.   

Ian Robertson began the second day of action on the men's side, continuing in the heptathlon. He finished on a high note, achieving a personal best 4,465 points in the opening event. 

Kevin Vanderkolk continued in the mile after qualifying on Sunday. He clocked a time of 4:17.88. 

Jack Zettl, Ethan Hammer and Jacob Ricks all saw action in the 3000m. Zettl clocked 8:28.30 while Hammer finished at 8:34.59 and Ricks closed out the race for the Bruins in 8:47.94. 
 
In the 4x400m relay, Belmont's time was 3:28.00 as Mathew Miller, Jayden Gray, Garrett Horowitz and Wyatt Womack took on the track. 
 
Switching to field events, Noah Grimm cleared 2.02m in the high jump as the only Bruin to compete in that event. 

In shot put. Jackson Grant threw 14.45m with Robert Joseph not far behind throwing 14.21m.

Ian Robertson | 6th – 2,535 (755 60m, 736 Long Jump, 492 Shot Put, 552 High Jump, 777 60m hurdles, 482 Pole Vault, 671 1000m) 

One-Mile Run (Finals)  

Kevin Vanderkolk | 7th – 4:17.88 (2 points) 

3000m  

Jack Zettl | 11th – 8:28.30 

Ethan Hammer | 18th – 8:34.59 

Jacob Ricks | 26th – 8:47.94 

4x400m Relay 

Jayden Gray, Mathew Miller, Garrett Horowitz and Wyatt Womack | 8th – 3:28.00 

High Jump 

Noah Grimm | 6th – 2.02m (3 points) 

Shot Put 

Jackson Grant | 17th – 14.45m 

Robert Joseph | 18th – 14.21m

With the completion of the MVC Championships, Belmont will begin competing outdoors on March 17th.
