What's Bruin

  • Belmont is coming off a 15-6 loss to No. 6 Vanderbilt at First Horizon Park on Tuesday night

  • The Bruins tallied 12 hits, tied for the most given up by Vanderbilt in a game this season

  • Junior shortstop Sam Kirkpatrick finished 3-for-5 on Tuesday, collecting his eighth multi-hit game and fourth three-hit game of the season

  • Kirkpatrick, a native of Franklin, Tenn., currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference in hits (27) and is 43rd nationally

  • Junior second baseman Jack Rando hit a missile off the left field foul pole at First Horizon Park on Tuesday, his second home run of the season and the third of his career

  • Junior left-hander Andy Bean is the projected Friday starter on the mound

  • Bean, a native of Fisherville, Tenn., is currently eighth all-time in program history in career winning percentage (.714)

  • With 179 career strikeouts, Bean needs seven more to pass Austin Coley (2012-14) to move into the top ten in the program's NCAA Division I-era

  • Redshirt freshman two-way player Ethan Harden has been a versatile weapon for Belmont, and has recorded a save, a win, and a start on the mound, has started games in center field and in right field, and hit his first career home run two weekends ago

  • Among qualified pitchers, Harden leads the team with a 0.93 ERA

  • Two weekends ago, Belmont collected one of their most memorable home series wins in program history, taking two out of three from Kansas for their first home series win over a Power Five opponent since 2001

  • Junior left-hander Dominic Baratta is the projected Sunday starter on the mound

  • Belmont is 4-0 on Sunday games at home this year

  • Baratta, a native of Dunedin, Fla., is coming off his best career performance, going six innings while allowing just one run while recording 11 strikeouts to just two walks in a 4-3 win over Western Illinois last Sunday

  • Belmont is third in the MVC in strikeouts (152)

  • Over the last three seasons, Belmont has gone 46-23 at home (.667)
