NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont Baseball associate head coach Aaron Smith has accepted a position in private industry, stepping away from his coaching position with the Bruin program.
Over the past 15 years, Smith has been an integral part in every aspect of Belmont Baseball, on and off the diamond.
Smith was a part of conference championships in the Atlantic Sun Conference and Ohio Valley Conference, consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances - including Belmont's run to the Vanderbilt Regional Final in 2011 with victories over Oklahoma State and Troy.
Under his tutelage, Belmont developed two dozen Major League Baseball draft selections, including World Champion Matt Beaty, All-American Drew Ferguson and top draft choices
Guy Lipscomb and Austin Coley.
"Aaron's contributions to our program have been profound," said head coach Dave Jarvis. "His fingerprints are found on every aspect of Belmont Baseball and in all we have accomplished during his tenure. His leadership through conference and facility transitions has been invaluable. I would personally like to thank Aaron for his heart of service, his constant support, his dedication to our players, and the friendship we've enjoyed for many years. We wish Aaron and his family well in this new season."
