NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Belmont University Women's Track and Field team returns to Vanderbilt this weekend for the Vanderbilt Invitational at the David Williams II Recreation & Wellness Center.

Both days of the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.

The Bruins will compete against 38 other teams and look to ride strong momentum from last week's Commodore Challenge.

Energizing the Bruins going into this meet are graduate student Brook Garter and senior
Logan Gray, who both took home MVC Weekly Honors.

Also spurring the team is
Alexa Fortman's record-breaking performance at last week's Commodore Challenge. Fortman ran a 1:32.11 in the 600 meters, earning her sixth place in the meet and breaking the program's record for the event.

This weekend's meet will see Belmont opening up the invitational on Friday with the pentathlon at 9:20 a.m., before heading into individual field events: the high jump, long jump and weight throw.

The Bruins will round out the day with the 200 meters, 1,000 meters, 5,000 meters and distance medley relay.
Â
On Saturday, the Bruins compete in mostly track events, but will participate in the pole vault, shot put and triple jump, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Belmont finishes the meet with the 60-meter hurdles, 60 meters, the mile, 400 meters, 800 meters, 3,000 meters and 4x400 relay, the last event beginning at 6:30 p.m.
