NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University senior Brooke Gilleland has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Volleyball Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.Â
The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native earned the honor after totaling 35 kills and 17 digs across two matches last weekend. Gilleland led the Bruins in a home sweep over Valparaiso with a match-high 14 kills, then followed with 21 kills, 12 digs, and three aces in Belmont's five-set road win at Southern Illinois.Â
One of the most dynamic players in the Missouri Valley Conference, Gilleland ranks among league leaders in kills, double-doubles, and service aces. She leads the Bruins this season with 318 kills (2.91 per set), 199 digs (2.21 per set), and 46 service aces.Â
A two-time All-Tournament selection this fall, Gilleland was named MVP of the 2025 Belmont Invitational and earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Clocktower Tournament, where she tallied 45 kills, including a career-high 27 versus Siena (Sept. 2025). She was also recognized as Belmont's September Student-Athlete of the Month.Â
Gilleland's recognition marks Belmont's second weekly award of the season, following freshman setter Jordan Czajkowski, who was named MVC Freshman of the Week on Monday, November 10.Â
The Bruins return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13, traveling to face Murray State at 6 p.m. CT inside Racer Arena in Murray, Kentucky. The match will stream live on ESPN+, with live stats available at BelmontBruins.com.Â
