SEA ISLAND, Ga. – The Belmont men's golf team is in 16
th place after round one of The Peoples Championship at Sea Palms held Thursday in Sea Island, Georgia.
Belmont carded a first round 293 to finish the day in 16
th place. UNCG leads the team standings after posting a tournament record 268. Davidson is in second at 277.
Leading the way for the Bruins is junior
Conner Brown. The Shelbyville, Tennessee native carded an even par 71 to finish the day in a tie for 27
th place. He is eight strokes back of the individual leader, Jake Lewis of UNCG, who shot a tournament record 63 today.
Sophomore
Grey Goff is two strokes back of Brown and in a tie for 53
rd place at 73.
Other Belmont scores from round one included: graduate student
Foster Wood (T-65, 74), sophomore
Chris Harpum (T-78, 75), and freshman
Brennan Cozad (T-113, 80).
Sophomore
Jack Darke, competing as an individual, is tied for 65 after shooting a 74.
