Baseball Faces No. 22 Vanderbilt

Bruins and Commodores Meet in All 4 Lou Showdown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Belmont (8-13) returns to action Tuesday evening against No. 22 Vanderbilt. First pitch from Hawkins Field is set for 6 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the game on SEC Network+ or listen to Rich Tiner on Belmont Bruins Radio.
 
Proceeds from the game will benefit the Live Like Lou Fund for ALS Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, focused on defeating Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The Live Like Lou Foundation and Vanderbilt University Medical Center have been working together, committing more than $3.5 million to fund new ALS research.

  • Belmont picked up a four-game sweep over the weekend against Butler. The Bruins scored 58 runs on 62 hits to win their second straight weekend series. Belmont's 12-2 win in game one in Friday's doubleheader was the first home win of the season for the Bruins.
  • Pete Daniel carries an 11-game hit streak and a 21-game on-base streak into the game. Daniel scored eight runs and recorded seven hits in the series against Butler. The sophomore leads the team with a .354 batting average and his 29 hits is tied with Charlie Davis for a team high.
  • Ty Allen finished the series 10-for-16 with six runs, two home runs and 10 RBIs. Allen leads the team with six home runs and 23 RBIs.
  • Gardner Lawrence went 5-for-8 against Butler, with a three-run home run in game two of Sunday's doubleheader. He finished the series with five RBIs.
  • Mike Sprocket had five RBIs in game one of Friday's doubleheader. He finished the series with three home runs and six hits. Blake Barton totaled nine hits, two doubles, a home run and six RBIs.
  • After picking up his first collegiate hit on March 12, Jake Maddox had three extra-base hits over the weekend, including a triple and four RBIs.
  • Jake Timbes picked up the win in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. Timbes tossed a season-five innings. And six strikeouts.
  • Zach Hernandez struck out a career-high six batters in his 2.2-inning start in game two on Sunday. Hernandez allowed no earned runs; he hasn't allowed an earned run this season.
  • Logan Brock struck out 3 batters in 2.1 innings of relief work in game two on Sunday.
  • Will Pryor and Andrew Perry picked up wins on the mound Saturday. Pryor threw six innings in game one, allowed two runs on five hits, and struck out five batters. Perry threw 2.1 innings of relief in game two. He struck out three batters
  • Belmont pitchers struck out 10+ batters in both games of Sunday's doubleheader; the first time Belmont posted double-digit strikeouts in consecutive games this season.
  • Zane Brown ranks fifth among Belmont pitchers with 16 strikeouts. The sophomore last appeared on March 9 at Little Rock and threw 1.2 innings, allowed three runs and struck out a batter.
Scouting Report: Vanderbilt Commodores
  • Vanderbilt suffered a series loss at No. 25 Auburn to open SEC play over the weekend.
  • Jacob Humphrey leads the Commodores with a .404 batting average.
  • The Commodores rank 16th in the updated RPI rankings.
  • Vanderbilt is one of five SEC teams still unbeaten at home this season, with an 11-0 record at Hawkins Field.

  • Belmont is 18-61 against Vanderbilt and 8-31 since joining NCAA Division I in 1998.
  • The Bruins won the matchup 11-4 on March 28, 1962.
