Sam Parker Makes NCAA Outdoor Championships East First Round Debut

Redshirt Freshman Gets Bruins Started Wednesday Afternoon in Jacksonville, Florida, with the Javelin

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Belmont University track and field's first men's field athlete to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships East First Round since 2019, redshirt freshman thrower Sam Parker made his NCAA Championships debut Wednesday afternoon in the javelin. The Oviedo, Florida (Circle Christian), native became the first Bruin to throw the javelin at the NCAA East First Round since 2015.

At Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, Parker threw for 183 feet, 3 inches (55.86m) on his second attempt, his best of three distances at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East First Round. Parker finished ahead of University of Louisiana at Lafayette's William Howard and Army West Point's Collin Torres.

Belmont's four women's track and field athletes – graduate thrower Rebekah Stucker (hammer throw), senior thrower Logan Gray (shot put), and graduate distance runners Grace Litzinger (3000m steeplechase) and Brooke Garter (5000m) – are in action at the NCAA East First Round Thursday and Saturday in Jacksonville.
