NORMAN, Okla. – Four Belmont men's golfers,
Conner Brown,
Grant Clark,
Chris Harpum, and
Foster Wood has been named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf/ Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholars as the organization announced its individual academic awards earlier this week. Â
Conner Brown completed his junior year at Belmont with a 3.423 GPA in Business Administration. The Shelbyville, Tennessee product played in 12 events and ranked second on the team in scoring at 74.4. He had four top-20 finishes, including a season -best tie for fourth place at the Pinetree Intercollegiate.
Grant Clark finished his sophomore season with a 3.47 GPA in Accounting. The Midstate native played in seven events and ranked third on the team in scoring at 75.0. He posted four top-35 finishes, with his best showings at the Grover Page Classic and Pinetree Intercollegiate, where he finished tie for 24
th place.Â
Chris Harpum wrapped up his sophomore season with a 3.75 GPA in Business. The Kentucky native played in 12 events and led the team in scoring with a 74.3 average. He had six top-35 finishes with his best finish coming at the MVC Championship where he tied for sixth.Â
Foster Wood is a graduate student with a 3.75 GPA while working on his Masters in Accounting. The Signal Mountain, Tennessee native earned All-MVC honors with a 75.4 average and two top-25 finishes. His best showing was a runner-up finish at the MVC Championship in April.
Overall, 17 Bruins have earned this honor during the Division I era.Â
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
