NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Â The Belmont University Men's Track & Field team returns to Vanderbilt for the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Â
Both days of the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.
The Bruin men performed well at Vanderbilt's Commodore Winter Challenge in December. Senior Vince Flegeance set a new program record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.96 seconds, edging out Caleb Corprew's seven-year record set at the 2018 OVC Indoor Championships. The time earned him a spot in the finals, where he finished 5th.
Â
FreshmanÂ
Gabe Heck made his debut by placing 13th in the pole vault. Other top-15 finishes include
Drew Brill, who placed sixth 5,000m, as well asÂ
Lleyton Penn and
Garrett Connor, placing 10th and 13th respectively in the shot put.
Â
The Bruins will kick off the Vanderbilt Invitational with the heptathlon, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Â
The heptathlon will be followed by a series of field events: the pole vault, high jump, weight throw, and long jump. The day finishes with the 1,000m, 5,000m, 200m, and distance medley relay.
Â
Saturday features the heptathlon, high jump, and shot put, before heading into the 60m hurdles, 60m, the mile, 400m, 800m, 3,000m and the 4x400m relay.
