LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Belmont University men's track and field team competed in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at Louisville over the weekend. The Bruins continued their progression toward the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship and faced a deep field of some of the region's best programs.
The Bruins' highest placement of the weekend was
Matty Mackay's 2nd place finish in the 5000m. Mackay ran a 14:18.67, coming in shortly after an unnattached runner.
Freshman
Aaron Richter turned heads over the weekend with impressive finishes in both the 800m and the Mile. Richter placed 18th of 82 competitors in the 800m Open on Friday, with a personal best time of 1:54.04. Richter then placed 26th of 100 runners in the Mile on Saturday. His time of 4:09.67 was also a personal best.
Drew Brill also earned a personal best in the 3000m, finishing with a time of 8:29.02.
The Bruins will return to action Feb. 13-14 at Vanderbilt for the Indoor Music City Challenge.
